The Gunners have been efficient in Europe thus far and look poised to finish either third or fourth in the league phase table. They’ve won five of their seven games, with a 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb last week all but guaranteeing their place in the round of 16.

Mikel Arteta’s side also head into Wednesday’s bout having returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday. The title hopefuls matched Liverpool’s victory by grinding out a 1-0 triumph at Wolves.

Arteta will undoubtedly have one eye on Manchester City’s visit on Sunday, with Girona’s Champions League fate already secure. Michel’s men have been eliminated from the competition having recorded just three points from seven games.

This is the first competitive fixture between Girona and Arsenal.

There will be plenty of familiar Premier League faces on display at the Montilivi, with the Gunners set to face former Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga between the sticks. Spurs loanee Bryan Gil has been one of the home side’s standout performers this term, but the slight winger is suspended for Wednesday’s game.
