While the Lilywhites are already guaranteed to reach the knockout phase, they need victory to guarantee their position in the last 16.
Injuries continue to decimate the Tottenham squad and they will be without the likes of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie, James Maddison and Dominic Solanke for Thursday’s crunch clash.
Here is how Postecoglou could line his injury-stricken side up against Elfsborg.
GK: Brandon Austin – With Guglielmo Vicario injured and Antonin Kinsky ineligible, Austin should make his third appearance for Spurs. The academy graduate has impressed in his previous two outings.
RB: Pedro Porro – The duality of Porro was on full show during the woeful weekend defeat to Leicester City. An excellent cross forged Spurs’ opener but two errors quickly handed the Foxes their lead after the break.
CB: Radu Dragusin – Long-term, Dragusin is simply not good enough for Spurs. However, the combative Romanian is guaranteed to start on Thursday due to a sea of defensive injuries.
CB: Ben Davies – The return of Davies for the last three matches hasn’t helped Spurs tighten up their defence, with seven goals conceded since the Welshman’s comeback.
LB: Archie Gray – Gray has been relentlessly moved around the Spurs defence and midfield this season in what has been a testing debut campaign with the club. Left-back will be where he lines up against Elfsborg.
